APAC-SCA (Student Chapter) Steps into its 3rd Year with an Expanded Partnership with Singapore Institute of Technology

With the turn of the academic year, APAC-SCA (Student Chapter) welcomes its 3rd incoming AY26/27 Main Committee, comprising of students from both Republic Polytechnic (RP) and Temasek Polytechnic (TP).
Entering APAC-SCA (Student Chapter)'s 100th week of inauguration, the tri-partnership continues to drive collaboration between the School of Applied Science at RP and TP, with the steadfast support of a new partner, the Singapore Institute of Technology.
"Jun Yu, Janelle, Andy, Jolin, and Suet En from Temasek Polytechnic, alongside Charlene, Christine, Siva, and Callum from Republic Polytechnic, will serve as the main committee for the APAC-SCA Student Chapter AY 26/27" say guiding lecturers Dr. James Lim (TP) and Dr. Wong Kak Ming (RP).
"Supported by RP Student Advisors Amylia and Matthias, as well as SIT representative, Dr. Adison Wong, this phenomenal team is ready to take the driver’s seat. With passion, devotion, and a clear vision, they are committed to strengthening cross-campus collaboration, cultivating a student community passionate about cellular agriculture across the Asia-Pacific, and raising the bar even higher for the future of food."
Looking ahead to the new academic year, APAC-SCA (Student Chapter) is thrilled to outline the upcoming flagship events and initiatives for AY 26/27. This year's agenda is designed to provide students with hands-on exposure to the cellular agriculture ecosystem - in both cultivated and precision fermentation technology - and to connect them with industry leaders.
"Our upcoming initiatives will bridge the gap between academic research and real-world application," the APAC-SCA (Student Chapter) committee shared. On October 15, 2026, we will be hosting the Competition Day: 2nd Edition of the Cellular Agriculture Talent Development Programme 2026 at SGInnovate from 6pm to 8.30pm, where student mentees will present their research findings and showcase their innovative solutions to an audience of industry experts. Following this, in November 2026, we will be organising an exclusive Learning Journey to the new Cell AgriTech Facility in Singapore. This visit will give students a rare, behind-the-scenes look at a cutting-edge pilot plant and contract manufacturing facility for cultivated meat, allowing them to see cellular agriculture scale-up in action. As we accelerate into the new academic year filled with fresh faces and ambitious goals, it is crucial that we remember the roots of our success. Moving forward effectively means never forgetting the past that paved our way. The incredible momentum we carry into AY 26/27 is built entirely upon the foundation laid by the dedication of our previous committees.
Reflecting on the past two years, the APAC-SCA (Student Chapter) has achieved extraordinary milestones in its mission to engage students and champion the cultivated foods industry. From local symposiums and workshops to international learning journeys in Penang, Malaysia, and the publications of factsheets, monthly newsletters, and a even a consumer study on cultivated satay tasting, the chapter has successfully grown the community, raised awareness, and delivered impact far beyond initial expectations.
We wish to extend our deepest gratitude to the outgoing committee for their phenomenal dedication and hard work. Your tireless efforts in bridging academia with industry, organising impactful events, and cultivating a passionate student community have laid an unshakable foundation for the APAC-SCA (Student Chapter). Thank you for your visionary leadership, for championing the future of food, and for setting a high standard of excellence that will continue to inspire the next generation of innovators!
The journey began on October 14, 2024, with the inaugural symposium, “Tasting Tomorrow with Today’s Youth: Student Chapter For Future Food.” This milestone event saw the signing of an MOU with Temasek Polytechnic and featured a historic cultivated chicken satay tasting, which provided vital insights for a detailed report on consumer acceptance. Since then, the APAC-SCA (Student Chapter) has worked tirelessly to bridge academia and industry through the January 2025 Poster Showcase and hands-on cell culturing workshop in both RP & TP. To combat public misconceptions and to raise awareness of the cultivated technology, the team also published a comprehensive three-part factsheet series dispelling myths, outlining the production steps, and reasons why the technology is important. Furthermore, with the support of The Good Food Institute APAC, the APAC-SCA (Student Chapter) launched the Cellular Agriculture Talent Development Programme 2025 to nurture young talent for the industry.
